My closing Aromaleigh order arrived

Knowing that Kristen allowed International order, I managed to buy some stuffs!
For this order, I used office address because at that time no one at home for sometime. I waited, and waited for the package to come. I checked USPS website to check the delivery status. But the status only stated untill the day of package sent out of USA.
Alas! The South Jakarta Post Office sent me a notification, I needed to pay some duty tax for that package (IDR 98,000, about USD 10)
So odd, I don't understand our custom. A couple of weeks before this, I received two packages from USA of my online orders but they sent to my office and I only paid IDR 7,000 (USD 0.80) each. That's their repackage charge.
Anyway, I had to find time to go to this particular post office in between my working hour :(
The place was far, but at the end, it was worth it.
I received many free items from Aromaleigh! I didn't expect that.

Enjoy the beauties:
Original order

Blush on and finishing veil

Free lip products

Free samples: eye colors, blush on, veil powder

Free full size eye colors

Aromaleigh opens for International orders!

I have decided to forget about getting stuffs from Aromaleigh on closing sale sometime after Kristen announced no International orders on July 2010.
But heyyyyy...... Yesterday I saw her tweet, telling us that it's open again.... Woo Hoo....

Here's the news on http://blog.aromaleigh.com/blog/2010/10/international-aromaleigh-customers-special-chance-to-order.html

"I've got a special announcement for established international customers- I feel very badly about how all the international shipping stuff happened.

I can make an exception to the policy if you're already a customer, and if you agree to work the transaction/order out with me not being responsible for refunds or replacements in case of loss or damage. I can only do this by shipping via International Priority Mail with tracking, which is trackable and I can insure, because it requires a signature for delivery (our previous setup was First Class Mail (not trackable, no signature) and Priority Mail Flat Rate (not trackable, no signature).

Please contact me via aromaleigh at me dot com  (remove spaces and replace at with
@ and dot with a . ) if you'd like to do this, with a list of items you want to order that are in stock, Vault or Site. Thanks!"

Once I receive your list, I will see what's in stock, offer you a chance to choose alternates if not everything is available (it's great if you can provide a list of alternates when you email in case this occurs)... and get back to you with a shipping quote.

You can order items listed in the Vault or on the regular site... please note that it may take me a few days to get back with you, and these orders are shipping a little slower than orders through the automated systems, which are still set up only to accept domestic orders.

I look forward to hearing from you and providing International Customers with this opportunity to get in their last orders, as there has been requests for the Cosmic Farewell collections...

Sincerely,
Kristen

I know what I wanted. When I was making the list, I then changed it because I need to be precautious on spending my money. Final list is here:

Nocturne Overnight Mineral Treatment
Gothic Lolita Rouge in Rococo
Rocks! Sonic Rouge in breathless
Illuminating Perle Powder, mini, in Incandesce
sample sets of the WONDERSTRUCK eye collection
sample sets of the MYTHOS eye collection
sample sets of the SPELLS! eye collection
I wish I can buy all full sets of Aromaleigh's newest eye collections ......
This woman is realy fabulous! Even when she's near to closing the store, she managed to create three gorgeous eye collections! Read the story here. They are prrrretty...... I want them all...........
Don't forget, the official closing of the store is November 15, 2010. Hurry up and shop.

I look forward to hearing from Kristen about the stock :)

Shocking news: Aromaleigh is closing!

My heart is broken!!!

Since I've been travelling a lot these days, I have less time online and reading updates from friends and make up artists I'm following on Twitter and Facebook.
Miss K of Aromaleigh has been very active in social networks, and somehow I cannot find her updated and her account in Twitter anymore.
I also searched Aromaleigh's fan page account but not able to find it. I was wondering where she's gone.
Then I decided to go to Aromaleigh's website and found the news (dated June 17, 2010)

Aromaleigh News, June 17th 2010

Today we have a general overall update.
I'm sure that many of you are curious about the many changes going on here at Aromaleigh.

Some details...

1. We are not closing, but have discontinued all "social networking" sites other than Twitter. You can follow the announcement Twitter account at http://www.twitter.com/aromaleigh

2. The Aromaleigh Fan Forum has been closed. The forum will disappear at the end of it's billing cycle. All users have been suspended to prevent the receipt of forum subscription emails (which has been confusing for many users and we could not get the system to discontinue sending them, or to totally shut down the forum visually).

3. Aromaleigh Mineral Foundations have been discontinued and there are no immediate plans to offer a replacement product. The foundations were discontinued for many reasons, the main one being that Aromaleigh is going through a time of change, restructuring and regrouping. We are simplifying, changing, improving and streamlining many product lines.

4. Order processing turn-around-time (TAT) has increased and is now 3-7 business days. All orders will ship faster when possible, however, at this time, Aromaleigh is taking life at a somewhat slower pace...

5. Third party items, such as brushes, Gel liners, Creme shadows, Concealers, etc.. we are not going to be stocking these again until Fall, and at that time, we will be condensing the offerings to provide the key necessities as opposed to carrying every color available. These items are currently on sale and inventory is in flux as the items sell out and are removed from the site.

6. Coupons have been simplified to include the New Customer offer and the Free Shipping offer. 25% off bi-weekly sales remain unchanged. We will be offering more code coupons and surprise sale items.

7. Several new Limited Edition eye collections are on the horizon.

8. Our Yahoo merchant ratings page is now gone, as Yahoo and Pricegrabber merged. We need to form an account to retrieve the lost post-transaction, third party reviews. We are also looking into a 3rd party post-transaction rating service for you to rate your Aromaleigh experience, other than Yahoo ratings.

9. The rewards program points for product review feature has been discontinued. Aromaleigh will be moving to a new ecommerce platform within the next 3-4 months, and the new platform does not support points for reviews, so at this time we have decided to discontinue this portion.

10. Kristen (aka Miss K) will not be personally responding to correspondence any longer. If you send emails or messages through to her, she will receive them, but she is not able at this time to reply. She does truly appreciate your messages! She misses blogging, and being there are Aromaleigh's spokeswoman to personally connect with all of you.
This is an aspect of Aromaleigh that so many have enjoyed and loved. It was one of the things that made us more than "just another company". Regretfully, being in the forefront for over a decade has created many issues, and Kristen made the decision to withdraw direct involvement not only because she is going through a very painful/personal time, but also because "putting herself out there" has put her under a microscope. She is using this break to get back to the roots of why she started Aromaleigh in the first place... and to remind everyone that it's about the products... and that at this time is what she will be focusing on.

11. Lastly, many customers want to know why all the changes? At this time, Kristen/Aromaleigh are going through a difficult time due to her divorce. Most of these changes have been made due to this time of transition and intense change/reflection. Kristen and Aromaleigh thank you for your understanding and support, but she also understands if you no longer support Aromaleigh because of these changes.

12. "Every great dream begins with a dreamer. Always remember, you have within you the strength, the patience, and the passion to reach for the stars to change the world." - Harriet Tubman

====

I feel emphaty about her situation. Miss K is an active entrepreneur. Reaching out the customers with personal touch, but somehow I noticed a few people took the gesture in different way. It wasn't nice or positive at all!
I didn't know the details, though.

I finally found the new Aromaleigh's Twitter account and followed it.

Then..... I read the latest updates, dated June 28.

I was shocked! This is just one of impacts of having own business. Sometimes we need to put ourselves on top.
I feel you Miss K...... May God give you strength!

I will miss the nice lovely products.

Aromaleigh News, June 28th, 2010... The End.

Aromaleigh bids you adieu...

We'd like to thank everyone for the last 12 years of support and repeat business... it's been an amazing ride, but it's time.

Some of the happiest times of the last decade+ have been receiving emails from ecstatic women whose lives and outlook had changed from something as simple as makeup...

Aromaleigh never started off being about making a quick buck. I started the company with a dream of independence and creating my unique, natural line of Aromatherapy products and fragrances. We grew slowly... one customer at a time, and soon customers were requesting natural cosmetics.

Our first cosmetic product was a tinted lipbalm called "Color Wash".... our Pure Powder, in 5 shades, followed soon after... and in the months that followed, frost and matte eyeshadows, and more...

I've given my heart and soul to this company, and the last 12 years of my life. But I am unable to continue, as I have to be honest... there's nothing left inside of me to give. And what I do have is reserved for the most important person in my life.

I can't and won't provide a detailed explanation for this decision... those who know me well know that this has been a decision that has torn me in two for several months. Nothing I say or don't say can matter at this point. All I will say is "You've won... I'm gone. You can stop now..."

It's makeup. It's supposed to be fun, and empowering and beautiful. But it's all become ugly. More ugly than I ever imagined.

I'll be offering the following "Goodbye" coupon for the next 2 weeks...

ADIEU35

35% off the entire store, not applicable to previously placed, shipped or received orders... Aromaleigh reserves the right to refuse any suspect or incomplete orders for any reason, Large international orders, as per our international terms, are subject to additional ship fees.

First come, first served for inventory... most inventory is not real-time, and sold out product will be updated daily. Being able to order a product does not guarantee stock. Please allow 7-10 business days (possibly more, depending on volume) for your order to be processed.

With a very heavy heart, I thank you all for this journey... and I also look forward to a future that is serene and blessed... for all of you, as well...

Sincerely and with a bunch of tears as I type this,

Kristen

My niece's (kindergarten) farewell party

I was asked by my sister to give make up to her daughter for her dance performance at her kindergarten farewell ceremony.
My niece's name is Syahira, she will be five years old in August.

I once put her make up but at that time the look result was heavy on her. So for this occasion, I gave her lighter look but with pigmented color on eyes.
I chose carefully the make up for her so her baby skin won't be itchy. (I know I don't have special make up for kids, so I can only use my make up which made from natural ingredients)

For her face, I applied Everyday Mineral base: Medium Beige matte, and Finishing Dust.

On her cheeks was The Body Shop Solar Duo Blush (Radiant Bronze)

Lips:
The Body Shop Vitamin E Lip Care SPF 15
Revlon ColorStay Lipcolor no. 232 (Sumptuous Sienna)

Eyes:
Aromaleigh Lip & Eye primer
Meow Friday the 13th eye collection: Spell
Meow Friday the 13th eye collection: Cursed
Black eye liner pencil
Revlon 3D Extreme Mascara in Black. Boy, she has long lashes!!

And that glitter was applied by her teacher when she arrived at the school. I didn't attend the ceremony because I had to do a chore.

Syahira and her brother, Fahreza

Syahira, when she was 7 months old.
How time pass by so fast!

And to our surprise, she received a trophy as the best student in her class. Yayyy...... We are so proud of you!
If only my father was still alive, he'd be proud too, knowing that the smart gene has been passed to the grandchildren. Lol.

Latest haul from Aromaleigh

Been a long time since I ordered Aromaleigh products. I faced a difficulty to check out for my last order (maybe in November or December 2009), due to change of my home address. Somehow Paypal or the check out system didn't allow me to settle the payment.

When Miss K announced additional discount for her Aromaleigh discontinued products in April 2010, I couldn't help to rush and selected some items I wanted to buy, especially for rocks! sonic eyes which had crazy lowest price...

I bought Glissade and Porcelain finished powder in full size, because I have tried I've tried their samples.
I fell in love with indelible gel eye liner and I wanted to have a different look occasionally, so I picked Venomous, a purple liner.
Ordered place on 25 April 2010.
Received shipping notification on April 27, 2010.
I waited, and waited. Usually it would take 10-14 days for overseas package arrive at home, but this time took longer time.
I wrote to Aromaleigh Helpdesk to check whether I can get bar code number, because for this shipping there's no tracking number.
I have been getting some problems with overseas shipment for the last one month, I predicted that what delayed the delivery should be at Custom office end. (damn!)

When I was traveling to Surabaya last week for a business trip, I was informed by my sister that there was package awaiting to release but I must provide my tax ID and the cost is IDR 70,000.
I felt odd because usually I'd pay only IDR 7,000 to post office.

I was exciting on my way home from airport to check out my stuffs. It was nothing odd at all to see my package has been opened! So why did the custom need my tax ID for identification instead of my usual ID card? I hope they won't charge me high in my next overseas online orders!!

Anyway, here's my haul. Oops, I forgot to include Bete Noire nourishing color creme in Monique!

I picked these three samples of eye pigments from Hi-fi retro matte collection.

And these are Rocks! Sonic eyes with indelible gel eye liner in Venomous (above)

Comment on Aromaleigh's En Pointe eye shadow collection

I don't remember when I purchased this sample, but it was before Miss K made this collection permanent, for sure. I haven't had a chance to try out the colors until maybe around 2 months ago.
For me, the colors in En Pointe collection very wearable for office work or if you do your daily activities. Yes, when you applied the color looks subtle but you have this unique pigments showing on your lids :)

Nowadays, I always bring this babies whenever I'm on my business trips.

Aromaleigh's En Pointe CollectionThe whole color samples of En Pointe Collection

What Miss K said about this collection:

"En Pointe"... a 2009 Limited Edition Collection now made permanent! 14 of the 20 original shades have been added to our constant line-up, thanks to your votes, feedback and emails.

En Pointe is inspired by one of my great loves... the ballet.

This is a gathering of lush shades, not just the expected ballet pink. For me, ballet is dramatic, emotional, and full of tragic beauty. With almost 20 years of ballet study, I watch not only dreaming that I could be on the stage, but knowing the iron strength and control that the most ethereal, graceful dancer must have.

"En Pointe" has a little bit of everything... plush matte shades with graceful iridescent highlights, a brilliant shimmering black and white that can make any color into whatever you imagine, and some lovely frosts with multi-faceted effects. Most of this year's collections have been straight frosts with vivid sparkling highlights, but this collection is more understated while still being full of mystery and transient beauty. The interference aspect of these shades is more pronounced when they are applied over a base, or foiled!

Testing out Aromaleigh's Glissade foundation and FOTD

The original plan for today was to move the rest of my stuffs from old place to new place.
But, due to what happened in the last 2 days and I've got confirmation from the guy I rent the pick up that he won't be available today, so I decided today will just do another sorting out of the small stuffs in the storage room of my old place.

I know I will be sweating and messy when doing the things cos the stuffs are dusty, but I decided to put on my make up. One thing was because I wanted to try Aromaleigh's Glissade foundation, and another thing was just to uplift my mood which was not good.

Early in the morning, I've tested the shades of Glissade sample first using a method from Youtube.Com.
The samples I bought are: Glissade 1N, 2N, 3N, 2C.

After test, I found that the shades that is close to my skin are 2N and 3N, but my sister said 3N is better.

What it said in Aromaleigh website about these products:
1. GLISSADE

Glissade looks just like you'd expect any mineral foundation to appear- a fine, loose powder... however, when you begin to apply it, you begin to feel a smooth, luxurious, gliding, silky feeling on your skin... application is effortless... the powder glides over your skin and melds with your own skin tone yielding the appearance of perfection. It's "Your Skin... Only Better" (TM).

In addition to it's emollient and buffering effects, Glissade offers similar benefits as our regular matte foundation powder, "Voilé". It is very finely milled and silky and contains Zinc Oxide, for full spectrum UVA/UVB protection. Glissade and Voilé also offer excellent coverage and skin adherence, and an expanded color palette! Glissade and Voilé also utilize advanced light-dispersing and skin-smoothing pigment technology.

What does "Glissade" mean? "Glissade" (pronounced glee-sod) is a French word typically found in the ballet studio... it defines a smooth, gliding connecting step in ballet choreography. But when it comes to your skin, "Glissade" is all about the smooth, gliding sensation of the foundation powder effortlessly blending with your skin!

My comment: Ahhh, no wonder it blends nicely and can cover my zits (see picture below)

2. Porcelaine Oil Control Mattifying Primer Powder

Porcelaine Oil Control Mattifying Primer Powder is a Magnesium-based translucent primer powder which is finely milled with a creamy feel. A thin layer of Porcelaine applied to your problem areas can greatly help in keeping your image of perfection... all day long.

Some magnesium-based oil control powders are stark white and although they are translucent, this can product a chalky effect on darker skintones. Porcelaine alleviates this problem by offering neutrally tinted translucent powders in light-medium , medium and medium-deep. We suggest that you try samples in at least 2 of these tones to find the best match for you. After applying Porcelaine, you will see that it melds with your skin and provides an invisible canvas on which you will apply your Aromaleigh Voil or Glissade or Pure Cover. We suggest that you use a smooth non-latex sponge or flocked sponge to apply.

3. Ultra Resolution Finishing Powder

Helps to reduces the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and imperfections. Light as a feather, you'll barely know that you've applied Ultra-Resolution Finishing Powder. It glides effortlessly over your skin like silk in a smooth, even layer. Application is a breeze! It's so soft, smooth and silky that you'll adore the way that it feels on your skin... and as a final step to your mineral makeup routine.

So here's my FOTD, very simple one:
Face:
The Body Shop Seaweed Mattifying Moisture Lotion SPF 15
Aromaleigh Glissade foundation in 2N
Aromaleigh Porcelaine Oil Control Mattifying Primer Powder in Medium Deep
Aromaleigh Ultra Resolution Finishing Powder in Clear

Bronzer:
EGM Bermuda Bronzer

Eyes:
Pure Luxe Decadent shadow
EGM liquid liner in Caviar

Lips
Revlon lipgloss in Coffee Gleam

After application at 10.35 AM

At 12.26 PM

At 3 PM

What do you think of Glissade on me?
