Spa treatment and spa products for my niece

the cuties

Today I had this thought while I was getting pampered at beauty salon (yes, creambath and hair cut, pedicure, manicure, foot reflexology): do we have spa products for kids which I can use on my niece and nephew?
Well, the nephew is too little (only 1 year and 3 months old), but his sister is old enough to get spa treatment (4 years and 4 months old).

OK, it's not like treatment at the spa, but a simple one which I can do at home using natural ingredients, like oatmeal, honey, milk, and fruits.
My niece and nephew like to play outdoor with their friends. And when I give them a bath, I can feel in some areas that their skin is dry and it's not smooth as kids' skin should be.
The only product I bought for them for moisturizing is Cusson's Baby Cream and Hair Mist from Because I'm The Princess (this one is for niece, of course).
So now I'm thinking to give the niece legs exfoliation and then moisturize the skin with heavy lotion, maybe body butter?

Now I'm in my mission to search homemade spa recipe for kids and maybe kids spa products sold online................
So far (as per today) I only found homemade spa recipes, but most of them are for adults.
I like the recipes in KinderInfo.com, but haven't found recipes for exfoliation.
Other recipes are from eHow.com and BirthdayPartyIdeas4Kids.com.

Let me search more and will update this post. Ciao..................

Updated, Jan 11, 2010:
Handmade kids spa products links I found:
1. The Lavender Pigs: Kids products (Bath Tints, Bath Fizzies, Soap, Bubble Bath, Body Spray)

2. Bath and Body by Tracy:

3. Sweet Sunnah: Black Seed Baby Soap, Cocoa Chamomile Baby Bottom Butter
4. Spa Nenes Bath, Body & Spa products
5. Tuscan Farm Gardens

I tried fish spa!

I've been wanting to try fish spa. I saw one at Senayan City Mall long time ago. And somehow, my wish came true today.
I was accompanying my Malaysian boss having lunch. We were at the mall til around 3 PM. We drove her back to the hotel nearby. And I and my colleague decided to go back to the mall, spending sometime there and break our fasting at 6 PM.
So, I suggested to go to Kenko Fish Spa.
It cost IDR 120,000 for 30 minutes. I heard that's the longest time we can get fish spa treatment.
We need to wash our feet with special soap, then we can soak our feet in the pond. We are not allowed to put in our hands inside the pond. Although the fish will come an bite our hands, but since they are not washed, the fish can die.

OMG, first time I soaked my feet, the fish started coming to my feet and start biting the toes. Felt ticklish. I giggled and tried to hold myself from squeaking.

My colleague wondered why her feet didn't have many fish around, then she remembered that she's just got pedicure. Ummmphh, that means my feet were dirrrty ???? Lots of skin dead cells???

Look at them, enjoying my feet :)

Garra Rufa, are the fish in the pond who are doing this incredible job. They are unique bottom-feeding freshwater fish found living the Middle East. The mineral content and warmth of the water they live in creates a scarcity of food. It is believed that because of the limited availability of food, the Doctor Fish have developed their unusual behavior of nibbling dead skin cells from people in the water.

Benefit of fish spa:
  • Natural exfoliation of dead skin – Smoother and healthy glowing skin with easy moisturizer absorption
  • Promote blood circulation – Micro massage sensation from these ‘little masseurs’
  • Lightening of minor scars
  • Easing of psoriasis and minor eczema
  • Release stress and tension – Ticklish sensation causing perpetual laughter!
For hygienic & cleanliness:
  • Water is changed daily
  • Water is treated with 2000W Ultra Violet Sterilization – To kill virus and bacteria in water
  • Sand filter – To filter out big particles like leftover fish food, food waste, etc
  • Ozone treatment – To break liquid waste such as sweat, urea, blood, etc into oxygen and natural water form
  • PH level at neutral
  • Temperature : Controlled at approximately 30C

Let's try infrared sauna

There are many kinds of sauna types, spa tubs, spa heaters, and more spa accessories in the market you can choose to install in your home.

Nowadays we can have our own spa or sauna in our home. It really is a good investment for your health. Saunas are used both for recreational and therapeutic purposes, with most people utilizing them as a relaxation tool that provides additional health benefits.

I read about this new type of spa, it's very new to me and I'm sure it's new to most of you. It's called infrared saunas.
What is infrared sauna? Infrared radiation is electromagnetic radiation of a wavelength longer than that of visible light, but shorter than that of radio waves. The radiation hits the surface of the body and heats through a process called conversion, instead of heating the air around you.

An infrared sauna is usually a wooden box, or small wooden room, containing several infrared heaters. It uses different technology in the panels, which will give deeper heat to our body. Our body absorb almost 93% of the infrared waves that reach our skin, while a conventional steam sauna relies only on indirect heat: The skin must absorb the heat out of the surrounding air. So this infrared sauna is much more efficiently than a conventional sauna.

What are the benefits of having far infrared sauna ?
If you have muscle spasms, joint stiffness and achiness, general aches and pains due to conditions such as Fibromyalgia, Osteoarthritis and Rheumatoid Arthritis, far infrared sauna can reduce the pain.
It also get rid off potential carcinogenic heavy metals such as mercury and lead, as well as alcohol, nicotine, sodium, sulfuric acid and cholesterol.

Before trying out infrared sauna or having it at your home, consider these precautions too:
- Check with your physician or pharmacist for possible interactions with a drugs affect due the use of an infrared sauna.
- Do you have certain diseases? Raising the core temperature may be contraindicated for individuals with adrenal suppression, multiple sclerosis, or systemic lupus erythematosus.
An acute joint injury should not be heated within the first 48 hours, or until the joint erythema and swelling subsides.
- Discontinue use of infrared saunas immediately when you are pregnant.

If you are ready to have far infrared sauna, you can choose a model that suits your needs and budget.

Points To Consider When Purchasing Spa Products

Upon hearing the word spa, the first thing that probably comes into our minds would probably be an activity of pure relaxation and pampering. The idea of dropping in at a spa has extended and blasted over the preceding years that the total treatments accessible are centers for our hair, body and skin. Along with the booming of the spas came the explosion of spa skin care products.

Essence of the products

You will find spa skin care products inside or outside the spa grounds and has turned out to be an essential element in the entire spa experience. Actually, there are more alternatives accessible now than ever. Spa products allow your visit to a spa more enjoyable.

But you ought to be reminded that before you employ any of these spa products, it has been advised that you first consult your physician so as to avoid any complications in the future.

Innovations and treatments

Spa skin care product expansion made the most out of the recent innovations in dealing with the aesthetic dilemmas such as aging, acne and wrinkles. More often than not, these spa products give emphasis to the clinical study findings together with the research and technology that made the product possible.

The demand for spa products that manages or averts the damaging of our skin due to the harmful UV rays is increasing. In the event that you are one of those few people who need these certain products, then it is best that you first conduct some preliminary research regarding the clinical findings of the recommended solution for this particular incident before you shop for a spa product.

Where to find the spa products

You might be thinking where are these products available, well of course the name itself states where it can be found. However, there are some products that can be purchased on the net and sometimes in some of the spa product's retail outlets. If you are purchasing from the spa center itself then you can probably get a discount from the management. This is one of the promotional strategies of spa centers so that they attract more clients to buy directly from their spa centers.

In reality, purchasing spa products is rewarding provided that you conduct it accordingly. By asking some questions of the people who are familiar with the products and by conducting some research yourself you can be assured of getting the best results.

Moea Spa, spa products from Tahitian Noni

I always love spa products, and since I consume Tahitian Noni Juice everyday, I also try its spa products too.

You can visit the website here to see the products.
Products available in Indonesia are only:
1. Sugar Scrub
This scrub is different from other scrub. It has sugar crystal, contains macadamia and kukui nut essential oil. The aroma is vanilla.

After scrubbing, our skin will glow as the sugar cane polishes it, so it's better we apply this after we take a bath, not before the bath. Just wash the body after applying. If your skin is very wet, sugar crystal will melt. It won't clog your bathroom drainage.

This is very good for your dry skin. Use 1-2 times a week.

2. Body Butter
Next, after you dry up, apply Body Butter only on specific dry skin area, e.g. elbow, knee, heels.
It contains noni seed oil and tiare flower.

3. Body Souffle
Apply this all over your body to get smooth skin after you take a bath. It has banana aroma and contain macademia nut oil, noni seed oil, cocoa seed butter and shea butter which give you extraordinary moisture and protect the skin.

With only those products, you can still enjoy the effect of spa. It's do-it-yourself spa.
Now, relax and enjoy your time.

If you want to have those, please contact me :)
